From the HVAC Exposed channel

They handed you a $15,000 quote and told you to sign tonight.

You cannot argue with a number you cannot see inside. So they keep the number big and the paper thin. This is the book that cuts the paper open: who really built your system, what every line on that quote means, and which ones are padding.

The problem

The system breaks. Then the real work starts, and it is not on your equipment.

If you own a house, you already know three of these by heart.

It is 95 degrees and the AC just quit.

The first company to answer the phone knows you will pay anything to make it stop.

"Your heat exchanger is cracked."

They red-tag the furnace in January and hand you a five-figure quote before you have finished your coffee.

The $99 tune-up.

Somehow it becomes a bill for thousands and a system that "will not last the summer."

"You are low on refrigerant again."

The same refill every single year, on a sealed system that should never lose any.

"It is too old, you need the whole thing replaced."

A full replacement pitch for a part that costs less than $20.

The financing tablet comes out.

Zero percent that quietly turns one number into a much larger one over 60 months.

Your honest guy retired.

The one man you trusted is gone, and every name in the search results looks the same.

Nobody will explain the paper.

You ask what a line means and you get a shrug, a deadline, and a pen.

Chapter five · the quote autopsy

One real quote. Cut open line by line.

This is the centerpiece of the book, and it is the reason people buy it. A quote is not a price. It is a sales document, built to be read fast and signed faster, with one big number at the bottom you cannot argue with because you cannot see inside it. Here is what is actually sitting inside one.

Residential system replacement · 3 ton Signature requested same day
Condenser, coil and furnace, 3 ton system $8,400
Required second evaporator coil A coil is already inside the line above. This bills you for the same part twice. $1,150
New refrigerant line set The existing set was sound. The book shows you the two checks that prove it. $900
Permit fee Your county publishes what it actually charges. Look it up before you sign. $600
Shop fee and miscellaneous Never itemized, never explained, and it comes off the quote when you ask. $450
Labor, 2 days, 2 men $2,200
Thermostat $900
Haul away and disposal $300
Quoted total $14,900
Padding found on four lines $3,100

$3,100, sitting inside a number that looked solid. Not because anybody broke the law. Because the paper was built to be read fast, and nobody expected you to read it slow.

The book costs less than the smallest line on that quote.

One example quote, reproduced from the book for illustration. Prices vary by region, equipment and installer. The book teaches you to read your own quote. It never tells you what a job "should" cost, because anyone who gives you a national number is guessing.

What is inside

11 chapters. 6 of them never ran on the channel.

The videos tell you why the industry works the way it does. This tells you what to do about it while the paper is still on your table. The 6 marked below were written for the book and exist nowhere else.

The Nameplate Decoder new

Read the sticker on your own unit. Tonnage, age, builder grade versus the real thing, so nobody can tell you your three ton is a five ton.

The Quote Autopsy new

A real quote cut open line by line, every dollar of padding flagged and explained. The full Quote Defense Kit, built in.

Find The Good Guys new

The supply-house trick and the 3 questions that sort the honest contractor from the closer.

The Warranty Decoder new

What the fine print actually says, what quietly voids it, and how to file a claim that gets paid.

The Money Map new

Where rebate money actually lives now that the federal credit is gone, and how to find what applies to your address.

The Plain-English Glossary new

Every piece of jargon they use to make you feel like the dumbest person in your own kitchen, translated.

The Brand Decoder

Who actually owns your AC, and which "different" brands are the same box wearing a different price tag.

The Lifetime List

The equipment worth buying, the lines to walk away from, and why the install beats the badge every time.

Which System Is Right

Central, mini-split or heat pump, and the ductless option that gets quietly skipped because it cuts their ticket.

The Thermostat Trap

The hidden setting aging your compressor, and the utility program that shuts your AC off on the hottest day on purpose.

The Refrigerant Reality

The truth behind "your refrigerant is banned," so that line never works on you again.

The 20-Year System

The handful of cheap, boring moves that make a system outlive the people who sold it to you.

Who this was written for

These are not reviews. They are the comments that made me write it.

Thousands of comments came in under the videos, and the same two sentences kept coming back. If either one is yours, the book was written for you.

"I've been quoted $15,000 for a new 2.5 ton."

Comment · HVAC Exposed

Frank, HVAC Exposed

Who is Frank

I worked for the companies this book is about.

I started out turning wrenches and finished managing mechanical jobs big enough to have their own paperwork. I sat in the Monday morning meetings where they taught us how to build a bill: what to condemn, what to bundle, how to make a $15 part sound like a dying system.

I left because I got tired of watching decent people overpay for poor work and thank us on the way out.

The channel exposes how the game is played. This book hands you the playbook, in order, so you have it on the night it matters instead of somewhere in a playlist.

No manufacturer, contractor or supply house pays this channel. Nothing here is sponsored.

Before you buy

Questions homeowners ask me.

I am not handy at all. Is this over my head?
No. Most of the book is about reading paper, not turning wrenches: what the sticker on your unit means, what a line on a quote means, which questions drop the price. The hands-on parts are filter, drain and thermostat level. If a job needs a licensed pro, the book says so and tells you what a fair scope looks like.
Does it cover furnaces too, or only air conditioning?
Both, plus heat pumps and water heaters. The brand, quote, warranty and contractor chapters apply to whatever is in your basement. The seasonal chapters cover heating and cooling separately.
Will it tell me to do my own gas or electrical work?
Never. Gas, combustion, refrigerant and high-voltage wiring are licensed work and the book is explicit about it. What it does is stop you paying $2,000 for the licensed work plus $3,000 of things nobody needed to touch.
How is this different from the free videos?
The videos explain why the industry works the way it does. The book is the reference you open on the night a quote is on your table, organized so you can find the answer in a minute. Six of the 11 chapters were written for the book and never ran on the channel.
Does it tell me what a job should cost in my area?
No, and be careful with anyone who claims to. Prices swing by region, equipment and installer, so a national number is a guess dressed up as a fact. What the book teaches is how to read your own quote, line by line, and see which lines do not belong.
How do I get it, and what if it is not for me?
Checkout takes a minute and the files download immediately, on any phone or computer. If you want your money back inside 7 days, email me and you get it. No form, no reason needed, and you keep the files.
